London, Portugal, Paris, Peak District…Part 3
After a fun day in Sintra, we headed up the coast. Our first stop was a little beach/surf town called Ericiera, which was idyllic.
From Ericiera, we cut inland and headed to Torres Vedras. Torres Vedras was both beautiful and interesting. And an added bonus was that the town’s famous bean-based baked good was dairy free!
After Torres Vedras, we headed back to the coast and stopped in Peniche. It turned out to be a slightly strange city, and I am not sure if we ever found the main part of town. However, it was still pretty, and there was a beautiful beach on the outskirts.
By this point, we were all getting hungry, but not hungry enough to eat the saltfish drying outside this person’s house.
We piled back into the Fiat Doblo, snacked on some granola bars, apples, and nuts, and headed for Obidos, the ultimate destination for the day!
Obidos is a walled city, and getting to our hotel was quite a challenge. My dad was amazing at navigating through the teeny tiny streets filled with tourists walking along the cars, and after being told that we had to move the car the moment we found our hotel, he had to get the Fiat Doblo through a series of passageways that were scarily tight! I took pictures of the obstacle course when we were walking later.
While Dad and Uncle Steve were braving the parking, I took about a hundred photos in our very cute and quirky hotel…
Here is the entrance, which makes it look deceptively small.
And the view from our room.
And then we headed out for a walk around Obidos. What a town! I am sorry to bombard you with photos, but I just struggled to cut any more out!
After our walk in Obidos, we went for a lovely meal, had another walk, and after a night of sleep and a nice breakfast at our neat little hotel, we hit the road again and headed for Evora.
Okay, I had hoped that this post would cover a few days, but as usual, I have got carried away. It looks like a post per day of the trip at this rate!
Love reading about your trip!! 🙂
Thanks Amber! Just saw the picture of you and Tyler. I can’t believe he’s almost four either! And you look beautiful as always. 🙂
